It was cathartic. It was life affirming. It was powerful and humbling and my body did not let me down. In fact, if I ran a race with my heart, and my body obeyed, this would be it.
We outran Sandy's arrival, and I collected my sixth Marine Corps Marathon medal. And in my mind, mom was finally looking on, cheering me to a 3:52 finish. (Thanks everyone for your comments and thoughts on my last post.)

And the final time... Was on pace for a slightly faster marathon, but happy with the result

Congrats!! I ran the MCM last year and I'll never forget that steep climb to the finish although I think the most eye opening moment was running the circle around the Lincoln Memorial and the wall of people cheering us all on. It took my breath away!
Congratulations, that's an awesome result!
Excellent work, Kenny! Congrats.
Great job, Kenny! I didn't have the guts to leave a message on the previous post because it's too close to home and to my own experience, but just so you know, I am sorry for your loss and I hope this to bring some peace to you. I am glad to see that you ran this marathon and you crossed the finish line with different feelings. In other news, I’ve been nominated for Liebster Award and wanted to pay it forward by nominating your blog for one too!
The Rules:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the 11 questions the person giving the award has set for you. <----on my blog http://ririnette.blogspot.ca/2012/11/liebster-blog-award.html
3. Create 11 questions for the people you will be giving the award to.
4. Choose 11 people to award and send them a link to your post. Go to their page and tell them.
5. No tag backs.
Congrats on the great result and hope you will participate in this little blogging exercise as I would love to know more about you.
Belated congrats! Running MCM again must have felt wonderfully familiar. All the best to you and your family.
