Spring runoff...

First race of the year in the books. The hilly course is definitely not my element. I didn't PR, but it was a respectable showing. 8K in 36:46, about minute slower than my time two
years ago and compared with my last 5 miler, it was not me at my running peak. Finished 179th out of 1842... Not bad, I guess.

Still, I'm happy to get it in. It showed me that yes, I need more speed work, and yes, I need to build my mileage, and yes, I could stand to lose some pounds... But hey, that's running life, huh? Tomorrow, I plan to get back into it with a long run.

Nice race, Yumke... this is motivation for you to crush that 8k time for your next race. And you are RIGHT, this is running life!

I think you did really well considering the running winter you had! And by that I mean you didn't get out there as much as you wanted! Congrats on the race and I'm sure its pumping you more for the upcoming races!!

So what marathon are you planning on running?

Nice job. Still a respectable time. You're in good shape for the upcoming racing season.

Thanks guys, your encouragement is always welcome and well received. I'm in retrospect happy with the race. It was clear that my cardio was not up to snuff and my heart was way up with the pace, especially with the hills.

Sonia, I really want to do Chicago again, but I'm most likely going for the Marine Corps. Marathon in DC on Oct. 28 since i'm there all the time. Thre is also the Army 10 miler three weeks before the marathon, so that'll let me do two big races in a month.. (also committed to doing the scotiabank half on sept. 30, though haven't singed up yet..
